K-PAX Racing Volvos Finish 1st and 3rd in TorontoK-PAX Racing Volvos Finish 1st and 3rd in Toronto (Jul. 17, 2010) – K-PAX Racing capped off a strong race weekend north of the border by collecting two of the top three finishing positions in the Acura Sports Car Challenge on the Streets of Toronto.

Randy Pobst started from the number 1 position on the grid in the number 6 K-PAX Racing Volvo S60 and led all 33 laps, and took the checkered flag by 0.621 seconds over second place finisher James Sofronas in a Porsche 911 GT3. It was his third victory of the season. Randy’s K-PAX teammate, Andy Pilgrim, started from the number 2 position and earned a third place result in the number 8 Volvo.

“It starts with a car that was extremely well set up by the K-PAX Racing team. Will Moody, the engineer, is pretty brilliant. The car handled and drove extremely well,” Randy said. He also acknowledged that starting from the pole position made a huge difference in the race. “It is a lot easier to lead, than it is to get around somebody,” he said.

After starting second Andy fell back to fourth, before he passed the Porsche 911 GT3 of Patrick Lindsey for third late in the race, a move that earned him the Invisible Glass Clean Pass of the Race.

“It’s really a team thing now because the K-PAX guys work their butts off and to get basically 4 DNFs in a row, it was just breaking their hearts. They were just absolutely on their knees, they work really hard so this is really for them. I’m very happy for them to get back on the podium,” a relieved and happy Andy said afterwards.

The win increased Randy’s lead in driver’s championship by more than double over second place Kuno Wittmer. He now holds a 112 point advantage over Wittmer and is 190 points ahead of Dino Crescentini, who is currently in the third position.

Volvo’s lead in the manufacturer’s championship standings is 14 points over Porsche and 17 ahead of Dodge.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge will be broadcast on Versus on Saturday, July 31 from 3:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m. ET.
